The Ad Council is proud to honor CLEAR CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS as a spotlight donor!
Clear Channel Communications, a global media entertainment company, is a
long-standing financial supporter of the Ad Council at the Benefactors Level ($50,000 - $99,999). Additionally, for the last five years, Clear Channel has been the largest single contributor of donated media to the Ad Council. In 2008 alone, Clear Channel contributed more than $150 million in donated media space supporting the Ad Council’s PSA campaigns. This year, we are happy to announce a new partnership between Clear Channel and the Ad Council that will help raise awareness about the critical issue of hunger in America.
We are also honored to have Mark Mays, President & COO of Clear Channel, as a member of the Ad Council Board of Directors, and Tony Alwin, Senior Vice President of Clear Channel Outdoor as a member of our Outdoor Steering Committee. Additionally, several of Clear Channel’s top-level local managers serve on the Ad Council’s Regional Leadership Committees, offering their expertise and guidance in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, North Texas, Miami, and Los Angeles.
CLEAR CHANNEL & THE COMMUNITY
In April 2009, Clear Channel announced an unparalleled commitment to support local communities through charitable partnerships, PSAs, local public affairs programming and advisory boards, and round-the-clock access to station management for local officials.
In addition to the Ad Council, Clear Channel supports hundreds of charitable organizations nationally and across its local businesses, including the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Center, City of Hope Hospital, USO, Boy Scouts of America, and the March of Dimes. In 2005, Clear Channel quantified the value of its annual charitable contributions, which totaled over $1 billion.
CLEAR CHANNEL & THE AD COUNCIL
In addition to their long-standing financial support, Clear Channel has been a provider of donated media to the Ad Council since their first radio station opened in 1973. In 2003, Clear Channel made an unprecedented commitment to the Ad Council by doubling the number of Ad Council PSAs running on its radio and television stations, websites, and outdoor advertising displays. Through Clear Channel’s generous support, the Ad Council has been able to make a deeper impact on raising awareness and improving lives by reaching Americans in their local communities.
In 2009, as part of its new community engagement initiative, Clear Channel launched a special initiative with the Ad Council and our Hunger Prevention campaign, sponsored by Feeding America. Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization, and they have partnered with the Ad Council to produce a PSA campaign that raises awareness about the prevalence of hunger in America. The numbers are staggering: one in eight Americans is hungry and does not know where their next meal will come from. This summer, Clear Channel has committed to promoting our Hunger campaign through their strong local presence on radio stations, outdoor displays and highly-trafficked websites. We believe that Clear Channel’s focus on hunger will help drive food donations and volunteerism at local food banks across the country and fulfill the critical need to engage Americans in the fight to end hunger at home.
