The Ad Council is proud to feature our donor corporations who have partnered with us to make a significant difference in the work of the Ad Council and throughout the nation.
The Ad Council is proud to feature UPS as a Spotlight Donor. The UPS Foundation is a long-standing financial supporter of the Ad Council. Since 1995, The UPS Foundation has contributed nearly $700,000 to support the Ad Council’s efforts to support emergency preparedness.
Since its founding in 1907, UPS has built a legacy as a caring and responsible corporate citizen, supporting programs that provide long-term solutions to community needs. The UPS Foundation, founded in 1951, is responsible for facilitating community involvement in local, national and global communities. In 2012 UPS and its employees, active and retired, invested more than $97 million and contributed more than 1.8 million hours of volunteer time globally. More information can be found on the web at UPS.com/foundation.
“As one of the largest, most diverse companies in the world, we take our responsibility of being a good corporate citizen to heart,” said Eduardo Martinez, President of The UPS Foundation. “Much like the Ad Council, we are committed to leveraging our business expertise and resources to help deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to address some of the world's most pressing challenges.” The Foundation supports much of the Ad Council’s work and mission focusing on: community safety, humanitarian relief programs, driving safety, environment, and volunteerism.
Following the devastating tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri, in 2011, that triggered a deluge of unsolicited in-kind donations, UPS and the Ad Council brought together a coalition of humanitarian organizations with the goal of developing consistent messages that can be used in times of crisis to communicate the benefits of monetary donations to support domestic and international disaster relief and recovery efforts. As a result, the Ad Council created the ‘Hard at Work’ campaign, also known as the Donate Responsibly project, after Hurricane Sandy which encouraged Americans to make financial contributions to organizations active in relief and recovery operations. These PSAs illustrate the benefits of monetary donations and highlight that even a small donation can make a big impact. Further, the PSAs can be used after future disasters to broadcast the same message. These aligned responses support the shared values between UPS and the Ad Council.
“As the world leader in logistics, UPS is the ideal advocate for our Emergency Preparedness ‘Ready’ and ‘Hard at Work’ campaigns,” said Peggy Conlon, President and CEO of the Ad Council. “Our shared commitment to ensuring the safety of our citizenry is the basis of our longtime collaboration and we are proud to be a part of The UPS Foundation’s global investment strategy.”
