January 28, 2013
NEW YORK, January 28, 2013 – The Ad Council is pleased to announce that Beth Collins Ellard has joined the organization to lead the media team as Executive Vice President. Prior to joining the Ad Council, Ellard was the EVP and General Manager of DailyCandy, a women’s lifestyle digital property owned by NBCUniversal. Ellard has worked at several top media companies including Hearst, Disney and Time Inc.
In her new role at the Ad Council, Ellard will work to secure donated media support for the organization’s national public service advertising (PSA) campaigns, creating innovative partnerships with traditional, digital, and emerging media as well as corporate partners. The Ad Council’s 50 national campaigns currently receive $1.5 billion in donated media time and space annually, which would rank the organization among the top advertisers in the U.S.
“In an effort to ensure continued success in the evolving media environment and place our campaigns strategically within the ever-expanding digital sphere, we sought out a seasoned executive to lead our talented media team” said Peggy Conlon, President and CEO of the Ad Council. “I’m happy to announce that we have found someone who possesses such versatile capabilities as Beth Ellard.”
During her three years at DailyCandy, Ellard led the brand's transformation from an industry-leading email newsletter into a thriving digital media property. She launched and scaled its web, social media, mobile, and e-commerce platforms, tripling the audience to more than 6 million users. Under her leadership, DailyCandy grew advertising revenue to record levels via innovative advertising programs for clients such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Chase, Mastercard, and Gap Inc., among many others.
Prior to DailyCandy, Ellard was part of the digital-business launch team at Hearst Digital Media, launching and scaling websites for Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Seventeen, Redbook, and more. As Content Director, she led editorial strategy and operations for 12 Hearst Magazine websites. Ellard spent a total of five years at The Walt Disney Company as Vice President / General Manager within its internet and magazine publishing divisions and 11 years at Time Inc. where she held a series of increasingly-responsible positions in consumer marketing, finance, sales development and new business development.
